Gingerbread Man and House {Virtual Fridge}

This Week
Yesterday we went to help my Mom make a gingerbread house.  It's so much fun to make these and a lot easier than you think.  I have a three part tutorial if you're keen to give it a go.

Nathaniel had a load of fun decorating some gingerbread biscuits and eating them.

If you are keen to do some fun Gingerbread Men unit studies with your children be sure to  take a look at my Gingerbread Man Unit Study post.

Advent Resource List

I love Advent and all things Christmas.  This Year I've been inspired by Collette over at The Art of Being Mama and I want to make a new Advent calendar.    Isn't this beautiful ?  You should see her other pictures on Celebrating Advent - This Years' Jesse Tree. There is a full tutorial over at Shower of Roses: A No-Sew Picture Tutorial with Readings. This is going to be so much fun.

Upcycled Nativity
10
 A couple of years ago we made this Upcycled Nativity set which has become a part of our decoration set.

I'm so grateful to the older women who mentored me in New Zealand and taught me the value of creating and mainaining Christmast Traditions with my children.

What will you be using this year for Advent ?

The Gingerbread Man {Poppins Book Nook}

This months theme for the Poppins Book Nook is To The Kitchen. It's such a lovely time of the year to get to the kitchen with your children and build some holiday festive family traditions.  One of the things we've done is make Gingerbread Houses.

Did you know
  • The world's largest Gingerbread Man was made on 2nd December 2006 ?
  • Gingerbread dates back to the 15th century

This year we explored some variations of the Gingerbread Man Story before hand.
